Vanoise National Park

Le Parc National de la Vanoise, in few words …

Access: From Champagny-en-Vanoise or Pralognan la Vanoise (40 min from Moûtiers)

Just 40 minutes from Moûtiers, recharge your batteries in the Alpine pastures and eternal snow of the Vanoise National Park. Today, you can find up to 1,200 species of flower, 53 of which are protected, as well as a wide variety of wildlife.

In summer, enjoy exceptional, varied and fragrant plant life: a real festival of colour! It’s such a pleasure to walk to lakes and mountain refuges where you can enjoy a delicious bite to eat, and why not enjoy the memorable experience of an overnight mountain refuge stay too?

In winter, make your way around in total peace on touring skis right up close to the glaciers, with stunning panoramic views over a diverse range of unspoilt landscapes.

Keep your eyes peeled in every season – ibexes, chamois, mountain hares, golden eagles, bearded vultures and black grouse are never far away.

Did you know ?

Randonneurs

Nestled right at the heart of Savoie, this was the first French national park to be created in 1963, to stop the extinction of ibex in the Alps.

That’s why the ibex is the park symbol. It’s also available as a soft toy (you can find it in our shop area!).

Along with the Grand Paradiso Royal Reserve in Italy, they form the largest protected area in western Europe, 1,250km² of preserved wildlife, plantlife and natural minerals. A place of infinite discovery and amazement !

Created to protect nature, the Park’s main aim today is to safeguard its landscapes and the diversity of its plant and animal species, as well as its cultural heritage.
